Title: Transformation, Managing Principal

Purpose and Scope:
Partner with one or more CxOs and their Chief of Staff to identify and scope transformation opportunities that contribute to the delivery of our CSP goals. Lead strategic initiatives on behalf of CxO and deploy transformation capabilities from the Transformation Office to ensure the delivery of such initiatives. Part of the Transformation Office leadership team, defining and evolving the development and building of critical transformation capabilities for the successful execution of Astellas’ transformation agenda.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Partner with one or more CxOs and Chief of Staff (depending on size of Function) to shape their transformation strategy and roadmap
- Identify and scope transformation opportunities that contribute to the delivery of our CSP goals
- Lead the most strategic initiatives on behalf of CxO Function (or enterprise-wide as needed)
- Lead and manage all resources involved in the strategic initiatives this role ends up leading (people and non-payroll budget)
- Identify and build coalition of key stakeholders and sponsors to help deliver such strategic initiatives
- Coordinate as needed with other transformation initiatives to ensure alignment.
- Deliver to initiatives targets and if necessary flag deviations prior to them occurring
- As part of the Transformation Office leadership team, lead the development and building of one or more transformation capabilities
- Contribute to the Transformation Office strategy development and execution
- Provide leadership and people management to a group of Transformation Office team members aligned to a Capability group or geographic area
- Work in accordance with Transformation Office standards
Quantitative Dimensions:
- Significant contribution to achieve CSP Performance Goals by supporting one or more CxOs achieve part of the annual operational cost saving (e.g. 500+ oku yen in SMT), or revenue increase (e.g. 3,500+ revenue increase in Growth) to deliver our CSP goals.
- Estimated operating budget: 3-5 oku yen (in the Transformation Office); 10-20 oku yen (est'd, as part of leading the most strategic initiatives on behalf of CxO Function)
Key Stakeholders
Internal: CxO and Chief of Staff, CxO sponsors, CF Division Heads, TO Head, Teams within strategic initiatives.
External: Supporting consultants as applicable
Organizational Context:
- Number of direct reports: 5-10
- Team headcount (including indirect reports): 20 (when managing the most strategic initiatives on behalf of CxO Function)
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
- 15+ years of transformational leadership experience with a proven track record of leading transformational change initiatives within complex organizations.
- Experience managing global CxO level stakeholders, equivalent to a Consulting Partner of a management consulting organization.
- Deep experience in driving transformation specifically in corporate functions and manufacturing.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies and digital transformation trends is highly desirable.
- Good sense of both the strategic context for Astellas as well as the operational challenges of executing strategy well
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and deliver results within specified timelines and budgets.
- Strong change management skills, consistent past delivery of varied types of projects in relevant areas of the business
- Ability to recognize complex situations and use multiple formal and informal methods to find solutions, as well as the networking and influencing skills to drive change in senior and mid-level leaders
- Ability to present complex issues to top management and contribute to discussions in order to drive decision-making
- Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
- Proven experience in driving change and managing resistance within an organization.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to a rapidly changing business environment.
