Astellas aims to create a robust R&D portfolio utilizing cutting-edge science and technology, and is enhancing its engineered biologics modalities, including multi-specific antibodies and Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADCs). We are seeking a scientist to advance antibody engineering projects within our global Antibody Engineering group under Biologics Engineering unit in Tsukuba, Japan. This role will spearhead the design and development of next-generation biologics and drive innovative therapeutic programs, leveraging deep expertise in antibody engineering and oncology to advance our oncology pipeline. 【職務の内容 / Essential Job Responsibilities】

•Plan, design, develop, and optimize monoclonal antibodies, bispecific/multi-specific antibodies, T-cell engagers, engineered cytokines, ADCs, or multifunctional antibodies under the direction of senior members.
•Work closely with biologics engineering, cancer biology, translational science, AI-ML, and clinical development teams.
•Stay at the forefront of antibody engineering advancements, evaluating and integrating novel technologies to enhance biologics discovery and optimization.
•Present findings to internal stakeholders and at scientific conferences and contribute to publications and patent applications.

•This position is based in Tsukuba Research Center and will require on-site work.
【応募要件 / Qualifications】
＜必須 / Required＞
•PhD with 1+ years or MS with 3+ years of relevant experience in biological research.
•Knowledge and research experience in monoclonal antibody, bispecific/multi-specific antibodies, T-cell engagers, engineered cytokines, ADCs, or multifunctional antibodies.
•Proficient in in vitro assays such as protein-based affinity binding studies, and/or flow cytometry-based cell assays.
•Experience in antibody purification and developability/physicochemical assessment.
•Desire and ability to work in cross-functional, flexible and team-oriented environment.
•Well-balanced communication skills (active & passive) in own language and in English.
•Communication skills with a solid ability to articulate experimental plans, present research findings in meetings.
•Strong work ethic with a dedicated mindset of proactively identifying and filling gaps.
＜歓迎 / Preferred＞
•Experience of oncology research, with familiarity in tumor-targeting biologics and immunotherapies.
•Related industry experience in antibody/protein engineering/biochemistry and molecular biology.
•Understanding of antibody structure/sequence and developability/function relationship.
•Collaborative mindset to work with global project teams.

①Base salary: will be decided by the candidate's experience, skill and capability.
②When Discretionary Work System is applied: Discretionary work allowance will be paid.(50,000～100,000yen, based on the Grade)
③When Flextime System is applied: Overtime allowance will be paid for time worked in excess of prescribed working hours.
